[1000mp] Why??

Hello Yaesu Fans:
I believe that one of the improvements in the Mark V versus the original MP,
is the standard TCXO.
Therefore, from the postings here, and the info in my service manual for the
Mark V, the specs for the new TCXO 4 is improved from the MP's 2.0 PPM, to
the Mark V's .5 PPM. Note, they are both called TCXO -4 apparently, which
causes the confusion.
So, if you have an original standard MP, versus the newer standard Mark V,
your TCXO is four times less accurate over the temperature range.
You will see, that the Mark V, with its standard TCXO, has the same accuracy
as the older TCXO-6 in the MP. The newly available TCXO-6 for the Mark V,
is twice as accurate as the standard TCXO-4 that the factory places in the
Mark V radio.
OK, I hope everyone has the info now, seems like many people were right
about their radios in any event.
73 and Happy Dxing,
Mike Schatzberg
