[1000mp] Why??

Hi Hans,

The reason for the increased stability requirement and the
occupied-bandwidth limitation is regulatory. The 60m channels authorised to
radio amateurs are, in effect, in the middle of a block of governmental
frequencies. Because of this, the regulatory criteria are must stricter than
in the internationally-allocated ham bands.

Only 2K8J3E emissions are allowed on these channels (occupied bandwidth =
2.8 kHz at -26 dBc), hence the 2.4 kHz TOBW setting. To ensure that the
transmitted signal remains within the authorised mask at all times, a
frequency stability of +/- 1 ppm or better is recommended. The TCXO-6 is
rated at +/- 0.5 ppm, as I recall.

Cheers for now, 73,
