Just a FYI to the group. I installed the Inrad CW mod in my 8 year old =
FT-1000MP yesterday. It took about two hours to install and reassemble =
the radio. The topology of my PCBs seemed a little smaller than the =
boards illustrated in the service manual and the instructions that came =
with the mod. I insulated the leads of the caps and resistor with tape =
and insulation stripped from a small wire. To be honest, I never could =
detect any clicks on another receiver, nor did I ever receive any =
reports of clicks. I did look at the output siognal on a monitor scope =
before I did the mod, the raising waveform looked good but the falling =
part of the waveform was straight down. I haven't looked at the waveform =
after I did the mod. After assembling the radio, I made a few CW =
contacts with good reports. I asked for reports of clicks from the =
stations I worked and all said the signal was clean. I am sure someone =
with a scope or spectrum analyzer could give me a better idea of what =
the signal looks like. Installing the mod was much easier with a copy of =
the service manual. I got mine at w7fg.com. If I can answer any =
questions for anyone thinking of doing this mod please contact me.=20
