Yes, a protection scheme would be very interesting!

I use a HyGain Lightning Arrestor LA-2 (for a picture have a look at my site
at 'te koop') before every HF-rig I have, to prevent such troubles. Like the
saying is: "Prevention is better then cure".

Hi Hans,

Good to hear from you!  I'm working in the San Jose, California area now so
am away from home all week.  I had to put troubleshooting my MkV aside until
I returned home for the weekend.  As you can see by the email I posted to
the 1000MP reflector, I have it fixed now.  It was a lot of work to get into
that part of the rig and put it back together.  It would be good if I could
come up with some sort of protection scheme that would prevent that from
happing again.  If I do come up with something I'll post it on the
reflector.
