That's an interesting comment Hans.  The rig I actually prefer for ssb 
ragchewing in terms of both transmitted and received sound is also analog 
with an Inrad 2.8 filter - an old Ten-Tec Corsair which has the 2.8 filter 
in the 1st i.f. and a bypass cap around the 2nd i.f. xtal filter position.
