There are many ways to get the job done, and purists will cringe, but I'll
assume you don't have the right tools (SMT soldering iron, etc.). Therefore
you need to heat both sides of the device back and forth with a normal iron
until both ends are melted, then quickly lift off the resistor with
something like tweezers. Often, once the solder is melted, you can simply
push it off the pads with a small tipped screwdriver (or similar), and
then, if any solder bridging remains, heat again and repeat.
If there are big blobs of solder on the pads (before or after the operation
above) carefully clean up with solder wick.
Pads that SMT devices solder to do not generally have any thru-hole plating
to help secure them in place, so it's easy to lift the pads - be careful.
