When you use the VOX button for CW you are operating semi break-in.  There is a also break-in button next to the CW speed control (under the second VFO knob) that allows full QSK operation.  

I'm running full QSK with an Ameritron amp that has the built in QSK-5 switch and use pin 2 of the Band Data jack for keying the amp and the TX inhibit input (pin 8) to prevent the rig from transmitting if the amp is not ready.  Works FB.
