Did I miss it or has nobody mentioned common mode chokes...
I had a terrible problem with another rig before the new
Field arrived...Having heard of some feedback problems
inherant to the MPs, started cleaning up the shack. Ground
rods bonded with 2/0 copper into the shack did not cure the
problem but did help.
Winding 15 feet of RG-8X through an Amidon FT240-77
from the junk box cured the problem. It connects directly
to the radio and runs to an outboard tuner where the ground
connects. The rigs are all grounded to the tuner and this
becomes the common point ground. DC is through the
power cords and a brute force filter.
Radio Works has ferrite filters for plug 'n play use with KWs
and some interesting reading on the web site.

The MK V Field arrived next day and zero problems so
far. No amp used here and the antennas are dipoles 30 ft
above the single story house 40 thru 10.
Your mileage W I L L vary without a doubt :)
