[1000mp] Low Receive and No Transmit on Mark V - Any Ideas?

Opinions Wanted:

My just over a year old Mark V, non field, just quit transmitting.
I now get an High SWR alarm and the SWR meter reads
full scale. I was transmitting into my 10 meter dipole
and had hit the antenna tuner button to make sure it could
handle the antenna impedance since I had not yet pruned the
Alpha Delta DXCC antenna. The measured SWR was a little over
3 to 1 but the tuner didn't complain. I had been talking and
running it in Class A and just pushed the button to turn class
A off. After just a few minutes, the receive went down a little
and per the power meter, no power was being put out. I could
still hear myself in the headphones via the monitor output but
no one else heard me. I believe the forward diode in the SWR
metering circuit is probably bad but don't know what else.
Per the service manual, they are surface mount. I have tried
a full reset but didn't help.

I talked to AES Cleveland who says they now have a Tech but don't
know whether to send it to Yaesu California or not. I figured
that they could / would add any updates that might be available
since mine was new.

I believe someone mentioned that there was an update to help / keep
from blowing these diodes, but am not sure.

Has anyone experienced similar circumstances?
Any idea of the costs? I am sure it will take a long time to get
it back. Thank goodness for backup rigs.

I bought the radio May 22, 2002 so it is over a year old. I believe
one year is the normal warranty period. Can someone verify that? I haven't
called Yaesu yet, but plan to next week.

Should I remove my filters before sending it to Yaesu?

73's TIA for any info that you may have.
