[1000mp] delayed display turn on

I think that many of the FT1000MP's in use experience the same phenomenon. I
certainly notice that there is a substantial delay , more than most TV
watchers would find tolerable, before the display is visible when I turn on
my radio after it has been off for a month or more. It is most noticed when
I am hurrying to tune some station that has been spotted and I want to work
the country --- otherwise, it is only something that is troubling and on my
list of things to 'deal with some day'.

Still, there clearly is a reason for this phenomenon to occur and most
likely it will be found by someone who analyzes the circuit that drives the
display. The guess that it is related to a time delay in charging a
capacitor somewhere certainly sounds reasonable. If someone were to decide
which capacitor(s) were the ones that should be changed maybe some of us
would do it --- it they were not buried too deep or did not involve surface
mount work etc.

I guess we will all just have to sit around and wait until someone who
understands such circuitry finds that his or her display is taking so long
to come on that they get "damn mad and are not going to take it any more".
Then they will look at the circuit and invent a fix. Let's hope that person
is someone who is on this reflector and is sufficiently social that they
want to take the time to explain their magic fix all of the rest of us.
Until then, the best treatment is to turn the radio on frequently and use a
lot.
