Hello, I would appreciate advice/comment from the 1000mp Mk 5 gurus. I
succumbed
to the "special offer" price at HRO and bought a Mk 5 that I was assured
was new. This was
Dec 20 2002. This is the first new rig since 1968 for me, and I was not
as well informed as I
should have been. I filled out and mailed warranty cards, and started
refurbing the shack to
honor the new box. THEN I found the site which lists the decoding of
mfg. date from the serial  
number. Mine starts "1E"...March of 2001?!? Did I get someone else's
problem refurbished, or
is it possible that this is truly "new stock"? Should I have any
concerns other than age? Am I  
missing out on updates with such an "old" rig? Or am I just an old
