[1000mp] New or Refurb mk 5??

Hello, I would appreciate advice/comment from the 1000mp Mk 5 gurus. I su=
ccumbed
to the "special offer" price at HRO and bought a Mk 5 that I was assured =
was new. This was
Dec 20 2002. This is the first new rig since 1968 for me, and I was not a=
s well informed as I
should have been. I filled out and mailed warranty cards, and started ref=
urbing the shack to
honor the new box. THEN I found the site which lists the decoding of mfg.=
 date from the serial =20
number. Mine starts "1E"...March of 2001?!? Did I get someone else's prob=
lem refurbished, or
is it possible that this is truly "new stock"? Should I have any concerns=
 other than age? Am I =20
missing out on updates with such an "old" rig? Or am I just an old woman?=
