Hi Scott
Use the Packet ins and outs for AFSK.
Use the "Easy Set" setting defined in menu 8-6 to select
USB or LSB for your mode......this makes the packet IO plug on
the back work similar to going thru the mic....except the signal
bypasses all the DSP EQ, compression, mic gain, etc...
After you set up the "Easy Set" mode on menu 8-6 you
can ENTER that mode by holding in the Packet button for a couple
seconds. When you are using "Packet" mode the mic jack on the
front panel is NOT active. Signals are routed thru the Packet jack.
In my MK5 Field user manual the pages you want to study are:
Page 4 Pin out diagram of the Packet jack.
Page 16 Explains a bit about what you'll be doing.
Page 105, 106, 110, and 111 explain about the "User Setting"
