No it may not be THE solution. Do we sit on our hands until the golden
bullet is handed to us - one with guarantee? Are these mods so unworthy
that we shouldn't bother to try them IF we feel we have clicks (by whatever
definition)?

Um, yeah, but this is the MP reflector. I care about my MP. If I want to
learn what to do with my 940, I go to the Kenwood reflector. If they don't
care, does that let us off the hook?

That's NOT what I read. Quite contrary, you seem to be "stuck" with the
notion that since some MPs do NOT have clicks, and that some TenTecs DO,
that no one should take the time to open their MP up.

True...

1) could be a poor radio to start with (with, say 3kHz wide clicks) - should
have been measured first
2) could be a poor mod/choice of values - check this
3) could be poor measurement techniques - check them
4) all of the above

If you still have clicks, shouldn't I have the right to tell you, regardless
of the work you have performed, the radio you use, or the phase of the moon?

I haven't heard of the "click patrol"... perhaps that's some humor, however
it sounds like an derogatory statement aimed at those who would complain
about hearing clicks.

I didn't get that from K6SE's post.

No, the FCC only cares that the crud we produce stays in the ham bands. If
we are "wide" (splatter/clicks) and operate far from the band edges, we are
pretty safe from the FCC. PLEASE do not rely on them for the ultimate
adjudication of this topic. It is up to us. This means that we need to
detect and repair the bad signals ourselves - with our own limited
abilities.

I've learned from these posts:
a) what a click sounds like
b) what a click looks like on a scope
c) on a spectrum analyzer
d) that lots of radios may have them, and therefore
e) my radio may have them

I think that's enough to get me to take a look.
