Earl,

Then what is the use doing the W8JI mod ... when THIS is the result?

"My MKV was over +-3 KHz wide before the mod. es less than 800 Hz
after the mod. ... Equip: HP 8594 spectrum analyzer, HP 8920B
communications system analyzer, etc." <from N7HIY's post>

Using the same "logic" here ... the W8JI modified MK- V STILL clicks
up to +/- 800 Hz or a CW bandwidth of 1.8 kHz ... and FLUNKS your
"should have no clicks at all outside of a narrow xtal filter ..."

Your mod resulted in +/- 300 Hz as I recall ... so why all these
differences?

Is even +/- 300 Hz" clean enough" ? ... so even YOUR W8JI rig, still clicks
and does not really pass your stated rule here ... so you can't use it now.

B-)

How about the guy who pays the $ 80/hour ... gets his rig
home ... and it still ... clicks ... Now what should he/she do?

Other than get ready to be posted on the "Click Hall of Shame" ... B-)
