CW, because people often answer 100-200 Hz off frequency."

Also:

My contest logging software (TR) makes it easy to embed an RIT Clear
command either in canned CW messages or in a function key. There is no
analogous way of clearing the second VFO. Having to compare the
frequencies visually or hit the A>B button is no fun in a high-rate
situation.

Don't understand why I would have to compare the freqs visually or hit
the A>B button. If you're worried about the tx staying on your run freq,
just press the LOCK button for the sub vfo and leave it there for the
duration of your run. My method works just fine, rates stay high, and I
don't have to fiddle with that small RIT knob.

I reiterate:

When a radio has two VFOs, there's no reason whatsoever to have RIT. As
a CW contester who uses very narrow filters, I find it much easier to
operate in split mode, transmitting on a fixed frequency set by my sub
VFO, and search on the main VFO for those off-frequency callers who don't
seem to know how to zero beat. This is far, far better than using the
RIT.
