"There was a thread on this subject a while back, and it was termed the
"deaf receive" problem. Occasionally in contests while running
(cq'ing), the receiver seems deaf after ending a xmsn. The receiver
doesn't go totally deaf, just loses 20+dB of gain. Often sending a dit
will fix the problem. Without a lot of hard data as basis, I'd like to
suggest that this is a receiver gain control issue and not a relay
problem."

I had the same problem with my MP. A dit would correct it on CW and a
tap of the PTT switch would correct it on SSB. Hitting the front panel
MOX button would also cure it.
However mine was not a receiver gain problem. It also would fix itself
if I tapped the front panel ANT A/B pushbutton twice. This did not
change the radio's receive/transmit state and suggested that the problem
was a dirty antenna relay contact.
Over the course of time, this problem occurred less frequently. I have
not had it recur for the last two years or so. It appears that the dirty
relay contacts (if that's what it was) gradually cleaned themselves after
thousands of operations.
