[1000mp] Possible FT-990 replacement?

  Hi John and group,

  I owned a FT-990 for 7 years, and just 6 weeks ago bought a Mark 5.   Of
course, the Mark 5 has many more features than the 990, and I think it is
noticeably quieter on receive.   I operate mostly digital modes and to me
the 990 was a fantastic digital radio, and I especially like the way you
could use a narrow filter,  500hz or 250hz, when either LSB or USB was
selected.   I see no reason the Mark 5 will not live up to its reputation of
being a great radio and I look forward to exploring its many features.
However, if you can hang on to the 990, I'd keep it too, mine was a great
rig.
