In light of the recent power blackout in the NE US and portions of VE there is going to be  focus on the issue of our aging power line systems, at least in the short term. 

Perhaps a good thing to provide hams some leverage with our local power providers to fix their problems?

Long term, the costs will probably be too great both politically and financially for any real major overhauls.
