It depends on what is set in the menu.
I use auto-notch when edsp is activated, works very good for me.
The auto notch takes out multiple peaks.

besides monitoring pilu-up, I  use it to yell at people when they come and
sit one khz next to my freq without asking or listening, HI
I also scan the band for listening to other dx or in contest to pick out
wanted stations and quickly A<->B to that channel.

I use auto mode for SSB and fast when really hard 9+20 sigs or in CW
