Chuck,

 This may not pertain to your situation but the Plexiglas on my MP had 
accumulated dust on it.  I thought that I was going to have to pull it off in 
order to clean it.  As it turned out, I took a can of computer cleaning air 
and carefully blasted it in around the edge of the glass and it cleaned right 
up.  As for the scratches that you have, I would say that the glass would 
have to come off.  the only thing that I don't understand is how the 
scratches got there to begin with and therefore are they really scratches.
