I'm new to this list, and this topic is relevant to me. I joined this list
after I ordered a Mark V, which is being shipped from Burghardt's. So while
I'm waiting I downloaded the manual. (BTW, I have a Heath SB-220) After
going through the manual, to my surprise, there is a section on Page 12,
entitled "Operation with Non-QSK Amplifiers." And it even mentions an
SB-220 by name! In the third paragraph, it says

"With the relay now enabled, the Mark-V FT-1000MP can support non-QSK linear
T/R switching voltages up to 100 VAC @ 500mA, or DC . . ."

Not only am I new to the list, but I haven't even gotten my rig yet, so I
don't want to jump in with both feet here, let me just stick in my big toe.
. .

Apparently Dave Cohen, N7TC, has just followed the manual. The sites
recommended by Adam, VA7OJ/AB4OJ, are for Icom. I'm wondering whether the
Icom is similar to Yaesu in this regard.

Now the guys at Burghardt's said that I should use a relay anyway, like
Craig WA2TWF suggests. Is the 100 VAC @ 500mA handling capacity that Yaesu
claims inadequate, or wrong? I use my Heath linear with a Drake C line, and
I've never had any problem. I guess inquiring minds would like to know.
