Unless I'm mistaken, Carrier Point offset adjustment is not the place you 
should be trying to adjust your rig's frequency readout.  Carrier Point 
offset adjustment controls the center frequency of the receive and transmit 
passband.  I bet your large positive offset is making the audio of your 
received stations sound a bit trebly, especially with narrow ssb filters.
