You are quiet right.
However there are also a few good things to mention. E.g. the guarantee
period has extended from 12 until 24 months and the manual has to be written
in the maiden language of the country in which the rig is sold.
A very minor point of these CE-rules is for example that the FT-1000D may
not be sold since 1996, because it has a non-compliance build-in power
supply. I did not get an electrical shock so far...
