That would be exactly what happens. Someone will decide the fuse
is "too difficult" to change, and Yaesu (in this case) will be forced
to disavow most knowledge of its existence. CE-compliance and all its
silliness is worming its way into US products, and silly things like
this are nothing really new, but when it becomes super-national, well,
don't get me going... ;-)
Many years ago, Ferrari (or Lamborghini) was forced to "lie" about
(increase) a recommended replacement interval on some important engine
part (a timing belt if I recall) in order to receive certification to
sell the car in the US. The low-volume, high-performance cars, known
to be somewhat demanding on their owners (perhaps not unlike our
beloved MPs) required this part be replaced more often than the US Feds
would allow for similar components. So, Ferrari doctored the US
owner's manual to get it under the radar, but informed US dealers to
replace the part anyway at the proper (shorter) interval under warranty.
Perhaps someday our speech processor controls will be hidden deep
inside the radio (and no mention made in the manual) because they are
too difficult to set up!
