I've thought about replacing the 2600 stock. Any tips/hints on the
surgery procedure? I already have the Inrad 2.1 filter sitting unused.
The 500 Hz seems to do fine so I doubt I will mess with it.

Installing the filters is not difficult at all. Just take your time and
do
it step-by-step.
However to de-install the stock 2600 and 500 Hz filters in the 8.2 MHz
IF
needs some extra instruction, because you have to lift the IF-board for
this.
