[1000mp] Source for Precision Resistors?

I've found more than a few references on the net stating that the FT-1000 
remote controller is just a series of precision resistors, wired together 
with a set of buttons. To me, this should be much easier/cheaper to build 
than having to spend the $88 Yaesu wants to charge for the controller.

Has anyone out here in list-land successfully built the remote controller? 
If so, where did you obtain your resistors from? So far, my web searches 
turn up very little from the people who make such parts, unless I want to 
buy at least 5000 of them.
