Dear Lou:
My Alpha 99 has an output port that is asserted when the amplifier
should not have any RF imported. I connected that Alpha 99 port to the
inhibit pin that is within the band-plug on my Mark V.
I can not be sure that it works, however, assuming that it does,
that connection could save the day when I inadvertently try to transmit
when switching the band switch on the amplifier. My present procedure
is to inhibit the amplifier with the amplifier's front-panel inhibit
switch prior to making adjustments (including band change and setting
the tune/load to their expected positions). Effecting the connection
has no detected adverse consequences.
Others have told you about sources for "the plug that should be
included."
