Right, as long as the amplifier's input circuit is a close match to 50
ohms.  Alpha amplifiers are no problem in this respect.  I use an old
Alpha 76CA and never have to use my MP's auto tuner when driving it (nor
do I use it when running barefoot because all of my antennas are matched
to 50 ohms).
