About 10 - 12 years ago ICOM had a repair center in Atlanta. It worked great. 
I took a couple rigs down for minor problems when they were well out of 
warranty. The fellows always fixed them quick and never charged any 
money.....but maybe thats why they ain't there anymore. Remember when Heath 
would help you out no matter what the problem and sent out, if they went bad, 
free 3-500 tubes for years after a purchase of the SB-220.  It just isn't 
that way anymore. IBM had good service too, once upon a time. Alpha was great 
when they started up but they can now dance around that 4 year warranty 'till 
you give up. Drake was great too, really superb, at a fair price and short 
turn-a-around.

Good luck on the Yaesu stuff, I have the MP and when I read all this grief I 
cross my fingers.
