[1000mp] MP receive problem

My 1000MP has developed an apparent 40m receive problem.

When selecting 40m the received band noise & signals are barely audible for 
a short time (varies but usually 1-2 minutes) before the receiver seems to 
recover.   Selecting an antenna on ANT RX (external receive ant. port)
results in normal receive levels.   A separate receiver was used to 
determine that the 40m antenna is OK.

This all seems to point to a problem in the MP's LPF or HPF 
boards.   Anyone have any experience with a similar
problem?   If so, is it something that I could fix or will it require a 
trip to a Yaesu repair shop?
