Bill,

You are forgetting differences in culture, if you 
write directly to Mr. Hasegawa, you are doing 
what's known as an "End Run" around Mr. Maruya. 
This is a No - No or to put it another way, a 
black mark against Mr. Maruya. To write to the 
president may be the American way, but it'd not 
the way it's done with our Asian partners.
