[1000mp] Warranty Repair Time

Now that my Mark 5 is on its way back, I can report the final stats on 
current warranty repair performance..

April 2 (Tuesday)  -- received by Yaesu from UPS.  According to UPS 
tracking records, they tried to deliver April 1 but there was nobody to 
receive it.

April 9 (Tuesday) -- entered into Yaesu's tracking database.  5 workdays 
(whole or partial) lost.

April 29 (Monday) -- work performed (after I called the preceding week and 
was told it would be another 2-3 weeks)

May 8 -- shipped by Yaesu. Another 8 work days (whole or partial) 
lost.  Took 4 phone calls, each promising shipment a day after the 
preceding one.

So out of 27 work days (whole or partial) that the radio was on their 
premises, Yaesu burned 13 of them doing what they called "paperwork."

Just think how much they could improve their performance, as perceived by 
their repair customers, simply by fixing this obvious system problem.

On the plus side, they did ship the radio back 3-day select.  I hope to see 
it Monday.
