An explanation of the situation could go like this:
The circuits are built at "a factory" in large quantities. ( I don't know if
Yaesu does their own pcb manufacturing or not. Many huge manufacturers such
as Cisco farm out this work.). Then they are stored, and used in assembly
of rigs as needed. It is not feasible to make changes such as the key click
fix when you build this way, because the labor involved is extensive,
reliability goes down, etc.
Add to this the almost 0 % chance of communication with the
factory/designers.
Yaesu USA, or Vertex, whatever they call themselves is a marketing and
distribution center, not a design center. Their concern is ordering boxes,
storing them, shipping them to AES, collecting money, making ads for QST,
thinking up coupon deals to compete with Icom, maybe getting type
acceptance, trying to find techs to work on warranty rigs (probably with no
documentation in English or no spare parts). Get the idea? We can complain
to "Chip" all we want, but he is so far from the source of the fix (a
designer in Japan who probably did the design 2 years ago and is now working
on another project) that he isn't going to get a resolution.
This is why some people love Ten Tec.
