Part of the problem is that the "From:" field is reported as the posting
individual, but the "Reply to:" is set to the List. On most email clients,
this is going to lead one to believe that the message is from an
individual, rather than the List. Few folk are configured to see full
headers - it's more information than any of us should need to see
routinely.

This differs from the configuration of some other Lists. The problem is
not that participants are "whiners": the problem is that things are not
consistent between Lists.

Yes, you can manually check where each email is going, but people
who do something (like replying to emails) several times a day tend
to do it automatically. One assumes that an email that is "Reply"ed
to is going to the individual in the "From:" field, not some other address.

Software should reduce required manual intervention, not increase it.
