I dont agree with WD8ARZ.
But I prefer to reply with the test data regarding FT1000MP before and after
K9AN capacitor modification.
See tha my old e-mail annexe.
Also, after reading W8JI FT1000MP test of FT1000MP original and FT1000MP
with Inrad amplifier for noise reduction, mod that seem to reduce the rig
IMD, I think it is better to reduce noise and improve CW MDS (minimum
discernible signal) with the simple K9AN capacitor mode.

I reply a my e-mail 10/2000 concerning K9AN modification, applicated to my
FT1000MP after George W2VJN infos.
I repeat that it really on CW mode reduce the if-hiss by 4dB.
This is not a chat, it is the modification result, confirmed by lab
instruments and operator's ears.
It improve MDS and of course doesnt damage IMD or BDR.
All CW ops should try it, improving the FT1000MP if-hiss problem and MDS.

Some days ago I finally tried the K9AN modification suggested to me by
George W2VJN (INRAD) long time ago.
-My FT1000MP, s.n. 7G....., had as C3015 capacitor on the audio board a
0.015 uf. I have soldered parallel a mylar cap 0,047uf (now total 0.062uf).
-I have measured MDS with my old but performing lab:
LOGIMETRICS 925-S125 rf signal generator
Alan high precision step attenuator 0-100db
HEWLETT PACKARD 3400A true rms audio voltmeter.
-Rig setting 14,200-cw-AGC off- 500hz filters
menu 9-1 setting 12.
MDS- minimum discernible signal measured:
before modification was -137dBm
after modification is -141dBm
