It appears that Bill is referring to hiss in the SSB mode due to the
audio stages in the MP.  I've never heard the hiss he refers to, even
though I chase DX on SSB as well as on CW.

The hiss that I referred to is very objectionable and is generated in the
IF stages.  It is only heard in the CW mode while the EDSP is turned off,
and is worse when using very narrow selectivity.
