[1000mp] 1000MP-MV Filter choice

Dear Thomas:
First get Inrad filters for the main IF - I also have an Inrad
mechanical 500 Hz filter in the second IF at 500 Hz that hears out to about
650 Hz. Since it is -3db at 500+ Hz by specification. They are cheaper and
better than Yaesu in the USA.
I think if you want only one 1.8 SSB filter get one for the 8.8 MHz IF.
Knock down the side signals before they get to 455 Khz.
    I use a 250 & 500 at 8.8 Khz and a 400 at 455 Khz.
If I want little wider passband, I use the 500 at 8.8 and an SSB filter at
455 KHz to open the side skirts of the passband. This makes the IF about
700 Khz usable
    I have a regular FT-1000MP from late 1997.
Good Luck 73, George K8GG
