That is a good question, because every FT1000 series radio I have
seen (I have not seen a MKV yet) has severely deteriorated close-
spaced IM performance WITHOUT the noise blanker actually being
on. In the original MP, it is only with the front panel NB gain up. In
the 1000D series, it is with ANY setting of the front panel NB
control (you have to get inside the radio to fix it).
I wonder if that long standing design problem was corrected in the
MK V? Has anyone checked for it?
Also what about TX keyclicks? Did they actually fix that?
Does the weight control on the internal keyer actually adjust weight
or does it wrongly adjust the dot-dash ratio?

I'm sure the engineers are very good, but they probably get very
little feedback from the field and they probably do not fully
understand how to test things the way they should to weed out
problems.
For many years the ARRL tested receiver IMD using an almost
useless spacing that was outside the roofing filters, and I expect
manufacturers do the same.
