[1000mp] Sudden Loss of Display

Here is a copy of my message from Jan 12th 2002...I had many other replies
that had the same problem in this serial number range after my email.

I just received my second Mark-V from HRO and failed for the same problem as
the first one.  I also received another email from a user who had the same
problem.  

After several hours...or some times a few days...The Display on the MARK-V
goes blank (Dark).  Hard-Resets do not fix the problem and then needs to be
returned to Yaesu (HRO).

Here are the serial numbers that I know of that have the problems so far:
#1D260320  
#1D260141  
#1D260479  

If you also have seen this problem please let me know your serial number and
where it was purchased from.  Starting to look like a production issue.

What serial number Mark V do you have?  I had two new Mark V's that had this
problem and turned out to be a bad run from Yaesu.

Never did hear back from Yaesu on what the problems were, but so far the
replacement I have from an older run is working fine.

My Yaesu FT-1000 MP Mark V just lost it's "sight".  I turned it on this
morning and the digital display came up fine.  A few minutes later it was
blank...nothing...nada...no display showing.  I powered it on and off
several times but the display is still gone (blank).  Any suggestions?

Also, any recommendations on repair shops for Yaesu equipment, especially
the Mark V?  I sent my Yaesu handie-talkie into Yaesu's Cerritas, CA repair
facility on 12/17/01 and still have not got it back.  I'd like to find a
really good repair place with better turnaround.
