There is reactance in all coax/feed lines, connectors and terminated/dummy 
loads.  Just the extra jumper in for the Bird may affect the reading 
especially at the high frequency limit of the element.  Unless the Bird and 
the element are calibrated together at the factory additional error is 
induced.  Readings taken at either end of the wattmeter scale are not as 
accurate as center scale.  An example-- at 29 MHz--the Yaesu internal 
wattmeter has a -15% error and the Bird has a +10% error resulting in a 
difference between the two measurements of 25%.  Have the Bird factory 
calibrated and use it as your standard with enough elements to allow center 
scale measurements.
