Hello Bill,

Thanks again for your very interesting information and your tip to extend
the lifetime of the relays!

The menu of the MP/MkV/Field is something very very good. After 2-1/2 years
MP and 1 year MkV I still enjoy finding new ways and operating improvements
with this menu. It will be hard to find another rig with such a very
extended menu! I think this menu is underestimated by a lot of people. You
really can do more with the menu then you would think of. A couple of weeks
ago a fellow MkV-owner and I did spent a few hours in the shack exchanging
our experiences with the menu. Always a very good topic for this reflector!

About digital modes. For my profession I am a consultant for mobile
communications. In our world we see a considerable growth of datatraffic and
a big demand of bandwidth. All kind of new applications and services are
being developed and implemented. I am really very anxious to know if this
will be of any influence on amateur radio and if so in which form and how
big. In other words: are new modes like Pactor-III the beginning of a new
generation and perhaps a new era?

73!
Hans PA1HR.
