[1000mp] Diversity reception using the FT-1000MP

Hi,
I have seen the mod as well, using BP filter PCB intended for the FT-1000. What I did is to take the top-cover off the FT-1000MP, and disconnect the coax going to the sub-receiver. I then connected a dipole for 21 MHz directly to the sub-receiver. The performance of the subreceiver seems to be quite good I couldn't hear any problems with IP2 (parhaps due to using a monoband antenna), or any other stations that was not audiable on the main receiver. As you can hear on my recordings the sensitivity of the sub-receiver seems to sufficient.
BEWARE! Do not transmit while doing this test. The sub receiver is not protected if you have your transmit antenna close to the sub receiver antenna! I have two dipoles for 21 MHz spaced 4 meters apart, and measured 4 Watts coming into one dipole while transmittitting 100 W on the other.
This was just a temporary mod made for evaluating diversity. If this would be a permanent solution. a T/R switch and external koax connector has to be added to the FT-1000MP. I have some "contesting-filters" that could be used as BP-filters for the sub-receiver, and just added in series with the koax going from the second antenna to the sub-receiver.
