I finally gave up on the built in keyer in my MkV and very similar keyer in a FT100D.  I seemed as if the paddles were
getting stuck or hanging up and I was always fiddling with the spacing and spring tension.  And it got worse with
heavier weighting.  So, I built Logikit CMOS-4 Keyer and it's a huge improvement. I can lighten up the tension, reduce
the spacing, and send faster with much less effort and far fewer mistakes.  Figuring out how to use all the keyer's
features will some time though.
