for 200W to be reached in the first 1/4 of travel of the power knob in AM
mode?"
==========
I haven't operated AM since about 1960, but I checked my FT-1000MP to see
how the power knob reacted on AM.

The MP is capable of only 100 watts, and on AM the 25-watt level was
reached at about 9 o'clock on the power knob. 100 watts was reached at
about 10 o'clock.

On CW, 25 watts was reached at about 11 o'clock and 100 watts at fully
clockwise.

So, it appears that on AM the power control does indeed react much more
quickly, however I had no problem setting the output to 25 watts on AM
because the power knob acted very smoothly throughout its range on AM.

It appears that Lou's MkV power knob is acting normally.
