Of course. I forgot to mention Henry and Ten Tec have manufactured 
solid state amps also, and there was Metron for a while. Most of the 
13 volt solid state  amps however are not that clean, and should be 
confined to mobile use where the small antennas keep them from being 
problems.

My main point is not to pick at you, but to point out it is a cost 
and performance market driven decision. It is not correct to assume 
it is technology issue, or that American engineering is necessarily 
behind the times. Medium power systems, like 1000-5000 watt systems, 
are still less expensive and have better IM performance when 
manufactured using tubes...and amateur radio is a highly cost driven
