I guess that is the answer Pete, N4ZR was looking for.

On the standard MP, the TX LED on the Sub VFO merely selects that VFO for
transmit.  There is a separate SPLIT button (replaced by the M GRP button
on the Mk V) on the MP for quick split operation.
