When I first bought the 400Hz pair for my FT1000MP, I got the plug-ins for both IF's
and put them in the 250 slots - no soldering necessary. However, you lose the option
of adding a 250Hz or 125Hz pair in the future. BTW, I found the stock 8MHz 500Hz and
the 455kHz INRAD 400Hz combo worked just as well as the 400Hz pair so I traded the
8Mhz 400 in for a 1.8kHz SSB filter.
