I also have considered buying one for myself, but I'm like you I can't see
paying that much for a mic.

I have heard several on the air and most had a great sound if they were not
going through all the outboard consoles and processing from external units.
Most of the best sounding rigs were sent directly to the rig. The audio was
smooth and very clear, not the bass pumping audio heard around the bands.
But that is only my opinion, because everyone has their own opinion.

If money is the object, why pay $150-$200 for a speaker, $1000-$5000 for an
amplifier. I guess it's something to think about when you make a purchase.
