Randy,
I've put the INRAD 1.8 kHz filters in my Mk 5. Both are crystal filters,
and the 455 is an 8-pole guy that I used to use in my TS440. The
improvement is noticeable when I switch it on. They're sharp, but they
don't ring or produce any other annoying artifacts. The stock filters are
fine for friendly bands, but when you need filters, you need 1.8's.
Also use 500 & 250 Hz filters on CW, and a 500 Hz Collins filter on the sub
receiver. I'm satisfied with all the choices.
